Outdated Cannula
The only device being used in the medical oxygen industry to supply low flow oxygen therapy is the nasal cannula. The nasal cannula that goes up and over the ears was developed and patented in 1949, and only small details to the nasal cannula have been improved over the all those years. There are many problems associated with this outdated device, they are as follows.

* It is confusing and difficult to place this device appropriately to the face.
* It is very uncomfortable; making the face feel confined by excessive tubing and causing some users to be non-compliant with oxygen therapy.
* It continually falls off and is not secure, and compromises continuous oxygen flow to the nasal cavity.
* It puts pressure from the tubing on sensitive places like the ears and cheeks, causing skin breakdown. This is painful for the user and can require costly wound care for months.
